Design, engineering and production

We design, engineer and produce our products in our factory in the Netherlands, which keeps the lines short and ensures the quality of processes and products. Our skilled and experienced team is committed on every level and will be happy to brainstorm with you concerning the desired mooring and berthing equipment.

Testing and certificates

We assure you that our quick release mooring hooks and related equipment are tested before they leave our factory. Tests are performed in cooperation with our customers and can be witnessed by a third party of your choice. Furthermore, all equipment can be supplied in accordance with ATEX / IECex , UL, and other regulations.

All hooks are tested on our calibrated 3,500 KN Hydraulic machine and undergo a release performance test at a safe working load. All factory and witness test certificates will be provided as part of your choice.

Commissioning and training

Our team of skilled service engineers ensures that the installation and integration of our equipment run smoothly by offering on-site commissioning service. In addition, we offer onsite training so that the people on location exactly know how to handle the equipment safely and correctly and can solve troubleshooting problems themselves. The training can be customized to your needs.

After-sales and service

Our job doesn’t stop after delivery and commissioning. If you have any questions related to the delivered mooring and berthing equipment, we or our local team will help you. In case of troubleshooting, we can offer our call-out service or help out with remote technical support.  Furthermore, we can offer onsite inspection. We keep many spare parts in stock, which enables us to deliver them quickly.

Our team will always do the utmost to provide you the best possible service along the way!

Inspection & Maintenance for Mooring Systems

A unique approach for load cell calibration

Proper load cell calibration is essential for safe and reliable maritime operations. Load cells in quick release hooks monitor mooring line forces, allowing timely intervention in heavy weather. Annual mandatory calibration, as per SIGTTO and OCIMF guidelines, ensures reliable data and prevents safety risks. At Straatman, we have developed an innovative calibration method that significantly improves efficiency while maintaining high accuracy.

Why Choose Straatman’s Calibration Method?

  • Minimal Downtime – Traditional calibration takes up to 5 days per jetty with a team of three. Our method requires just 1 person for 2 days per jetty, reducing downtime and operational delays.
  • No Need to Remove Load Cells – Unlike conventional methods, our process does not require load cell removal, preventing issues caused by seized components.
  • High Precision & Safety – Using a calibrated digital pressure sensor, we ensure accurate load measurement, improving safety and compliance with SIGTTO and OCIMF guidelines.

How Does It Work?

Our quick release hooks feature a built-in cutout that allows for on-site calibration without dismantling the system. A hydraulic press and digital sensor apply a controlled load, ensuring precise calibration in real operating conditions.

This method helps maritime terminals maintain reliable mooring load monitoring, improve safety, and boost operational efficiency.
