Straatman designs, engineers and manufactures solar powered work lights for ports and terminals. Using solar power instead of cables for work lights has many advantages:
Using solar power systems for work light systems ensures good working lights and therefore makes sure that all employees can work safely 24 hours a day.
Our dataloggers and software platform enables to switch the lighting on and off from a distance as well as a continuous check of the state of charge of the batteries.
For a waiting area of a port, we designed, manufactured and supplied 36 robust and autonomous solar powered lighting poles. The solar powered lighting poles are used as working lights on platforms and bollards. This way the port ensures good working lights and makes sure that all employees can work safely 24 hours a day. Besides, beaming lights will make sure that signage, pole number and wind vane are always visible for ships that moor at the lock. To be able to switch the lighting on and off from a distance and to check the battery and state of charge, the dataloggers and software platform LoRa is used.
We engineer and manufacture custom designed capstans in any shape and size. For this project we were asked to provide a winching solution for a remote and powerless area. Our off grid solar powered system provides the required energy for a 1.5kW capstan, giving it a hauling speed of ±15m/min and a running pull capacity of 500kg!
Read moreA couple of years ago we used our expertise to design remotely operated 250 tons quick release hooks, equipped with a solar powered hydraulic powerpack. These are used by a mega cutter suction dredger on their left and right anchor line pontoons, for safe deployment and operation. The lines are used to move the ship in a left-to-right motion, sweeping their dredging work along the sea or river bed.
