Solar power systems for ship signage

You are here: Home Solar power systemsPorts & TerminalsShip signage

Solar powered ship signage

We design and manufacture robust solar powered ship signages. The solar power system is used to give electrical power to the lights that will illuminate the ship signages at night.

Using our solar power system instead of power cables for this application has the following features:

  • Guaranteed and continuous availability of power
  • Autonomous system
  • Reliability
  • Low maintenance
  • Reduction of energy costs
  • Green power supply
  • No complicated and costly cable laying
  • Work lights powered by solar can be placed in the middle of the water.
  • Robust design
  • Increases safety
  • Remote monitoring

Project ship signage powered by solar systems

For this project, our customer requested for reliable, robust and durable solar powered ship signage poles. The solar systems power a beam light and a nautical light in ATEX zone 1 environment.  The system needed to be powered by solar as they were installed in the middle of the water, so regular power supply by cables was not really an option.

Both lights are used to inform the captain of close-by ships and prevent accidents. By adding our LoRa based monitoring system, the customer can check the status of the systems remotely. By programming alarms, our customer will be notified when, for example, the battery power is low or someone turns off the system. This way a safe operation in the port is guaranteed!

Quick release Hooks and solar for dredging

Our mooring and dredging expertise combined

15 March 2022

A couple of years ago we used our expertise to design remotely operated 250 tons quick release hooks, equipped with a solar powered hydraulic powerpack. These are used by a mega cutter suction dredger on their left and right anchor line pontoons, for safe deployment and operation. The lines are used to move the ship in a left-to-right motion, sweeping their dredging work along the sea or river bed.

Calandkanaal mooring project ready for installation

10 January 2022

After a lot of hard work in the last months of last year, we are happy to inform you that we have successfully completed the assembly and testing of the 24 ATEX and Safe Area solar systems for the expansion of the berths 81 and 82 in the Calandkanaal, Port of Rotterdam. All systems were completely tested in our factory to ensure a smooth and efficient installation on site coming April 2022.
