What is the Ship-to-Shore Link?

The Ship-to-Shore Link (SSL) is crucial in elevating safety levels during LNG transfer processes. It's purpose-built to minimize threats from fires, explosions, or environmental hazards. The core aim of the SSL is to enable simultaneous emergency shutdowns of both the ship and the onshore plants if abnormalities are detected by either the ship's or the shore's Safety Instrumented System (SIS).

At Straatman, our Ship-to-Shore Link is designed with innovation and precision, ensuring it meets client needs while upholding high-quality standards. We understand the significance of the ship shore link in LNG transfers and, as such, offer a diverse range of SSL system sizes and configurations. Additionally, we render standby services for extra dependability.

For universal adaptability, Straatman's SSL is diligently crafted in line with ISO 28460, ISO 20519, SIGTTO guidelines, and SGMF. This ensures it integrates effortlessly with third-party systems adhering to these standards. Our SSL is versatile and can interface with multiple links, including:

  • 6 pin Furukawa Fibre Optic Link
  • 37 pin Pyle Electric Link
  • 4 pin Pyle Earth Bonding
  • 6 pin Miyaki Electric Link
  • 5 pin SIGTTO Electric Link (in both Supplier and Receiver Modes)
  • 2 pin ADN Link
  • Pneumatic Link
  • ITT Cannon Link

Harnessing state-of-the-art technology, our SSL is flexible and can be customized to suit unique specifications.

Project Configuration

For projects such as FSRU or FLNG, Straatman provides an inventive configuration. This design merges two stand-alone systems into one cabinet, making it cost-effective. It boasts a module with an HMI for ship-side operations and another module for the shore. Each has its backup system. This dual-system cabinet design results in a cost-benefit for users.

Our ship-to-shore link system excels in transmitting essential data, allowing operators to oversee crucial information through onboard computers.

Depending on the project scope, our SSL system may come with connector boxes, hand-carried reels, fixed storage reels, and test equipment. We select components based on extensive expertise and project specifications. We also provide the PABX, including Public and Hotline telephones.

Hotphone

Our hotline phone is designed for compatibility with the older Iwatsu T3 unit, ensuring smooth communication with other hotline systems. It's built for longevity, withstanding tough conditions. The design supports both flush and desk mounting, and it features an in-built speaker, with options for external speakers.

Emphasising our commitment to industry standards, the Straatman SSL system is compliant with ISO 28460, ISO 20519, SGMF, and SIGTTO guidelines. Collaborations between shipowners and onboard SSL system suppliers enable the effective establishment of the link between ship and shore.

The Straatman SSL system is in accordance with the ISO 28460, ISO 20519, SGMF and SIGTTO guidelines. It is compatible with the links as defined in the SIGTTO guidelines. Integration with any specific configuration of the onboard SSL system will be possible with cooperation of shipowner and supplier of onboard SSL system.
