What is the Ship-to-Shore Link?

The Ship-to-Shore Link (SSL) is a pivotal safety feature for every LNG transfer endeavour, safeguarding against potential fires, explosions, or detrimental environmental impacts. At its core, the ship shore link system is designed to facilitate a synchronous emergency halt of both ship and shore facilities should any irregularities be detected by either the ship or shore SIS. Straatman's Ship-to-Shore Link exemplifies innovation and excellence, and is tailored to be adaptable to distinct customer specifications. Aware of the critical role the ship to shore link plays during LNG transfers, we extend the SSL system in an array of sizes and configurations, also offering a stand-by service.

With a global perspective, we've ensured our SSL aligns with international standards, particularly ISO 28460, ISO 20519, SIGTTO, and SGMF. This dedication guarantees our system's seamless integration with third-party systems adhering to these guidelines. Our Ship-Shore Link is equipped with a range of connections, such as:

  • 6 pin Furukawa Fibre Optic Link
  • 37 pin Pyle Electric Link
  • 4 pin Pyle Earth Bonding
  • 6 pin Miyaki Electric Link
  • 5 pin SIGTTO Electric Link (for both Supplier and Receiver Modes)
  • 2 pin ADN Link
  • Pneumatic Link
  • ITT Cannon Link

Incorporating the most up-to-date industry standards, our ship to shore link system can be customised to resonate with your unique needs.

Project Configuration

Straatman presents an innovative solution allowing the fusion of two autonomous systems into a singular cabinet - an arrangement particularly beneficial for FSRU or FLNG projects. Utilising advanced technology, our SSL cabinet can accommodate a dedicated module with an HMI for the ship-end, as well as a secondary module for the shore-end, each complete with its respective backup. This design not only ensures maximum efficiency but also proves cost-effective, as it consolidates two independent systems within a singular SSL cabinet.

Moreover, essential data, such as MLM, can be relayed via our ship to shore link system, ensuring operators are consistently updated with crucial information via onboard computers.

In terms of project specifications, our Ship-to-Shore Link system might encompass connector boxes, hand-carried reels, permanent storage reels, and essential testing apparatus. Our wealth of experience and insight into the requirements ensures we can aptly identify the essentials for each project. Additionally, our provision extends to the likes of PABX, as well as Public and Hotline telephones.

Hotphone

Designed with compatibility in mind, our Hotline phone will be seamlessly paired with the now-discontinued Iwatsu T3 unit, ensuring uninterrupted communication with third-party hotline phones. Crafted to endure, our hotphone boasts a sturdy, weather-resistant shell, capable of withstanding harsh conditions. Its versatile design facilitates both flush and desk mounting. Complete with an integrated speaker, an external speaker can also be added if the need arises.

Ensuring adherence to best practices, Straatman's SSL system conforms to ISO 28460, ISO 20519, SGMF, and SIGTTO standards. Assured compatibility with links delineated in SIGTTO guidelines is guaranteed, and the link between ship and shore within any specific onboard SSL configuration can be achieved through collaboration between the shipowner and the onboard SSL system provider.

The Straatman SSL system is in accordance with the ISO 28460, ISO 20519, SGMF and SIGTTO guidelines. It is compatible with the links as defined in the SIGTTO guidelines. Integration with any specific configuration of the onboard SSL system will be possible with cooperation of shipowner and supplier of onboard SSL system.
