What is the Ship-to-Shore Link?

The Ship-to-Shore Link (SSL) is a pivotal safety system in the realm of LNG transfer operations. It effectively addresses and mitigates potential risks such as fires, explosions, or environmental hazards. The core objective of this ship shore link system is to enable a concurrent mutual emergency shutdown of both the ship and shore facilities if any anomalies are detected by either the ship or shore Safety Instrumented System (SIS). Straatman's Ship-to-Shore Link is a state-of-the-art system, designed with flexibility to meet diverse customer needs. Recognising the significance of the ship to shore link system during LNG transfers, we furnish the SSL in various sizes and configurations and also provide stand-by services for enhanced reliability.

With an emphasis on maintaining global compatibility, our SSL is meticulously constructed in alignment with international standards like ISO 28460, ISO 20519, SIGTTO guidelines, and SGMF. This ensures seamless integration with third-party systems adhering to these guidelines. The link between ship and shore is facilitated through various connectors including:

  • 6 pin Furukawa Fibre Optic Link
  • 37 pin Pyle Electric Link
  • 4 pin Pyle Earth Bonding
  • 6 pin Miyaki Electric Link
  • 5 pin SIGTTO Electric Link (both Supplier and Receiver Modes)
  • 2 pin ADN Link
  • Pneumatic Link
  • ITT Cannon Link

Incorporating the latest industry-standard technologies, our ship shore link has been tailored to adapt and align with your individualised requirements.

Project Configuration

Especially suited for FSRU or FLNG projects, Straatman presents a configuration that integrates two independent systems into a singular cabinet. Leveraging the advanced technology and spacious design of the SSL cabinet, we offer a dedicated module with a Human-Machine Interface (HMI) for the ship side, and a secondary module for the shore side. Both modules feature backup systems. This arrangement proves cost-effective as it consolidates two distinct systems into one SSL cabinet.

Furthermore, our ship to shore link system is adept at transmitting vital data, including MLM. This enables operators to efficiently monitor all pertinent information using the onboard computer.

Tailored to the project's nature, our Ship-to-Shore Link system encompasses connector boxes, portable reels, fixed storage reels, and diagnostic equipment. Based on our industry expertise and the project's requisites, we propose the best-suited solutions. Additionally, our package includes the provision of PABX, along with Public and Hotline telephones.

Hotphone

Our Hotline telephone is meticulously designed to be compatible with the now-obsolete Iwatsu T3 unit, ensuring unbroken communication with third-party hotline phones. Boasting a robust and weather-resistant housing, this phone is adept at withstanding extreme conditions. It features a versatile design suitable for both flush and desk mounting. The phone is equipped with an integrated speaker, with an option to add an external speaker if necessary.

Reinforcing our commitment to quality and industry best practices, Straatman's SSL system aligns with ISO 28460, ISO 20519, SGMF, and SIGTTO guidelines. Compatibility with the links outlined in the SIGTTO guidelines ensures that the ship shore link system can be integrated with any specific onboard SSL configuration, contingent upon collaboration between the shipowner and the onboard SSL system provider.

The Straatman SSL system is in accordance with the ISO 28460, ISO 20519, SGMF and SIGTTO guidelines. It is compatible with the links as defined in the SIGTTO guidelines. Integration with any specific configuration of the onboard SSL system will be possible with cooperation of shipowner and supplier of onboard SSL system.
