What is the Ship-to-Shore Link?

The Ship-to-Shore Link (SSL) serves as a critical safety measure in all LNG transfer operations. Its primary role is to mitigate potential risks such as fires, explosions, or environmental hazards. At its core, the ship shore link system ensures a synchronized emergency shutdown between the ship and shore facilities if any irregularities are detected by either the ship's or shore's Safety Instrumented System (SIS).

Our Straatman Ship-to-Shore Link exemplifies innovation, combining high-quality components and adaptability to meet diverse customer needs. We recognize the essential nature of the ship to shore link system during LNG transfers, thus we offer SSL systems in varied sizes, configurations, and accompanied by a standby service.

With an aim to align with global standards and ensure compatibility with third-party systems worldwide, our SSL adheres to the ISO 28460, ISO 20519, SIGTTO guidelines, and SGMF. Such compliance guarantees that our system seamlessly integrates with other systems that also follow these guidelines. The provided Ship-Shore Link is compatible with a multitude of links, including:

  • 6 pin Furukawa Fibre Optic Link
  • 37 pin Pyle Electric Link
  • 4 pin Pyle Earth Bonding
  • 6 pin Miyaki Electric Link
  • 5 pin SIGTTO Electric Link (both Supplier and Receiver Modes)
  • 2 pin ADN Link
  • Pneumatic Link
  • ITT Cannon Link

Employing the most recent industry-standard technologies, our ship shore link system is designed to be both adaptive and customizable to align with your specifications.

Project Configuration

For FSRU or FLNG projects, Straatman offers a specialized configuration: the integration of two distinct systems within a single cabinet. Leveraging advanced technology and efficient utilization of the space inside the SSL cabinet, we offer a dedicated module with an HMI for the ship side and another for the shore side. Each comes with its backup system. This approach is cost-effective, consolidating two standalone systems into one comprehensive SSL Cabinet.

Moreover, vital data like MLM can be transmitted via our ship to shore link systems, enabling operators to access and monitor all essential information on their onboard computers.

Depending on the nature and scope of the project, the Ship-to-Shore Link system may come equipped with connector boxes, portable reels, fixed storage reels, and testing apparatus. Relying on our extensive experience and project requirements, we ascertain and deliver what's needed. In addition to these, we also provide the PABX, as well as Public and Hotline telephones.

Hotphone

Designed for durability, our hotline telephone is compatible with the now-discontinued Iwatsu T3 unit, facilitating communication with third-party hotline phones. The phone’s robust and weather-resistant housing is built to endure challenging environments and wear. With a versatile design, it's suitable for both flush and desk mounting. Each hotphone comes with an in-built speaker, and there's an option to include an external speaker if needed.

In adherence to best practices, the Straatman SSL system conforms to the ISO 28460, ISO 20519, SGMF, and SIGTTO standards. Its compatibility encompasses the links defined by the SIGTTO guidelines. Moreover, the link between ship and shore in any specific onboard SSL system configuration can be seamlessly achieved through collaboration between the shipowner and the onboard SSL system supplier.

The Straatman SSL system is in accordance with the ISO 28460, ISO 20519, SGMF and SIGTTO guidelines. It is compatible with the links as defined in the SIGTTO guidelines. Integration with any specific configuration of the onboard SSL system will be possible with cooperation of shipowner and supplier of onboard SSL system.
