Experience unmatched reliability across diverse maritime vessels with our quick-release towing hook. This adaptable tool finds its fit in workboats, supply vessels, harbour craft, coastal vessels, firefighting craft, and tugboats. Customisation options are available based on your requirements, including load capacity, materials, and release mechanisms.
The Straatman GSH quick-release towing hook has been crafted to facilitate both safe and efficient operations across a spectrum of maritime vessels. This includes workboats, supply ships, harbour crafts, coastal vessels, firefighting crafts, and tugboats.
For ease of operation, the hook can be manually controlled using a lever or a rope. Impressively, it only requires a force of 33 pounds to release its full load. This design focus on user convenience ensures that operators find it straightforward to use. Moreover, its two-step release system is a safeguard against unintended disconnections. The hook also boasts a balanced disc design, ensuring hassle-free manual resetting. Notably, during the release phase, the disc's rotation has been fine-tuned to minimise energy impact.
In terms of specifications, the GSH towing hook is available in an array of Safe Working Loads (SWLs), ranging from 15 to 100 tonnes. This range underscores its adaptability and versatility to address diverse needs within the maritime sector.

This video shows the principal function of our quick-release towing hook. In this case, it concerns a GSH-15 (SWL 15 tonnes), which is released manually by means of a rope.
Each towing hook undergoes meticulous testing in our facility, using a 3,500 kN hydraulic testing machine. This ensures that our hooks always adhere to the highest standards.
For disc-type towing hooks, including GSH and BG-7 models, we rigorously test them at twice their SWL. We also perform a release performance test at each hook's SWL, assuring the release mechanism's quality.
If independent observation of tests is desired, we gladly facilitate it.
After testing, we provide both factory and witness test certificates. These are included in both the user manual and construction file, ensuring you have prompt access to all necessary documentation.
Beyond our standard offerings of quick-release towing hooks, we provide an extensive selection of tailored options and designs to cater to your distinct requirements.
Leveraging the expertise of our dedicated in-house engineering and manufacturing teams, we are well-positioned to address your unique requests in a timely and precise manner.
In a recent collaboration with a valued strategic partner, we innovatively crafted a hydraulic-powered shock absorber tailored for our smaller range of quick-release towing hooks.
Refer to the accompanying image on the left for an illustration of our design contribution. We took the lead in engineering the integrated foundations for this initiative, ensuring they seamlessly integrate with the tugboat's deck surface.
The GMH model, with its dual functionality, easily transitions from a mooring to a towing hook, thanks to a standard attachment called a rope keeper.
