The GMH-type quick release mooring hooks are commonly used on mooring buoys. Standardly, they are equipped with a rope keeper to ensure mooring lines do not inadvertently slip, potentially during wave disturbances. These hooks are typically sold as singular units, intended for integration into the buoy's framework, though multi-hook configurations are also available.
The GMH standard mooring hook is designed for ease of use, even at its maximum Safe Working Load (SWL). It incorporates a two-step release mechanism to mitigate against accidental openings. All our quick-release mooring hooks can be reset with a straightforward rotation. Additionally, rubber blocks have been integrated to cushion the energy upon release.
Our range of quick-release buoy hooks extends from 40 to 200 tonnes (SWL per hook).
The act of operating a mooring hook on a buoy is not without its challenges, heightened in unfavourable weather or when the quick release is engaged under tension. We have prioritised the safety of mooring operators in the design of our products, embedding features such as the two-step release mechanism and rubber blocks for energy absorption.
Our mooring buoy hooks offer the following options:
We have devised a telemetry system that facilitates remote supervision of mooring buoys by port operators, amplifying safety measures.
