The last couple of months our smart team of engineers completed various challenging Ship-to-Shore Link (SSL) projects. Our Ship-to-Shore Link system has been designed using the latest industry-standard technologies. What is setting us apart in the market is our flexible “Straatman” approach: We can adapt and tailor our SSL system to meet specific customer requirements.
High wind caused lines to break from cruise ship at port in Rome. Exactly to avoid these situations we invented the Smart Bollard! Earlier this month, a moored cruise ship encountered difficulties due to strong winds. The bow line broke, causing the ship to drift away and the gangways to fall into the water.
Straatman will participate as an exhibitor at the 35th PIANC World Congress from 29 April until 03 May 2024 in Cape Town, South Africa. We are more than happy to welcome you at our booth 23 to learn more about our Smart Bollard system, our groundbreaking innovation which measures the loads on mooring lines in real-time. This data is transmitted to the terminal operator, Port Authority, and vessel, enabling more efficient and safe port operations.

For commissioning and training of our complete mooring system for the new built LNG Terminal de Regaseificação de São Paulo (TRSP), our engineers went to the city of Santos, São Paulo in Brazil. The terminal will accommodate the floating vessel “Höegh Giant”.
The mooring project for Equinor Kårstø terminal in Norway has been completed in our factory and on its way to Norway. The Kårstø processing plant, located in the north of Stavanger, is the largest of its kind in Europe. The plant plays a key role in the transport and processing of gas and condensate from major sites of the northern parts of the North Sea.
In 2011, James Fischer Strainstall supplied a complete mooring system to Brunei LNG consisting among others of multiple Quick Release Mooring Hooks and a Berthing Aid System. As part of our take over agreement with Strainstall, which enables Straatman to provide OEM spares to all Strainstalls historical Quick Release Hook projects as well as providing system upgrades and on-site support and servicing, our colleague Gertjan executed a site inspection at Brunei LNG last week.
Within a challenging lead time we produced 2 pcs. of inner balls for the male part of a bow coupling ø1000-15°-24/30 Bar. These parts are executed with wear resistant cones aiming to decrease wear and tear as long as possible. All the welds are performed with special hard facing top welds. Complete design, construction, welding and machining is executed in our factory in Zwijndrecht, The Netherlands.
