From workshop floor to LNG Terminals
23 April 2026
From our factory floor to LNG terminals across three continents, a clear reflection of how global the LNG market has become, and how diverse mooring requirements can be. Straatman Mooring Systems is finalising multiple projects and shipping others worldwide. Each with its own specifications, local conditions and operational demands, but all built around the same principle: safe, reliable and efficient mooring.
Europe: safety and communication first
For an LNG terminal in Europe, we are supplying several SafeCom Ship-to-Shore link systems. These systems improve communication between ship and shore during mooring operations, a critical factor in LNG environments where timing, coordination and safety margins leave little room for error. By providing real-time, reliable communication links, operators can act faster and with greater confidence, reducing risks during berthing and unberthing.

North America: complete system integration
In North America, we are working on multiple LNG terminals where the scope goes well beyond individual components. Here, we deliver complete mooring solutions, including:
- Double and triple quick release mooring hooks
- Berthing Aid Systems
- Environmental Monitoring Systems
- Carry On Board units
- Central Monitoring Systems
These projects highlight a growing demand: not just equipment, but fully integrated systems where data, control and hardware come together. The goal is simple: Full oversight of mooring operations, from a single platform.
Asia: heavy-duty performance
For a customer in Asia, we recently completed a large-scale mooring project featuring multiple double 150-ton quick release hooks. These hooks are equipped with:
- Remote release functionality
- Integrated load monitoring
This combination allows operators to monitor line forces in real time and release safely when required. This is essential in terminals exposed to varying environmental conditions and high operational loads.

One market, many solutions
Although each region brings its own challenges, from regulatory frameworks to environmental conditions, the common denominator is clear: LNG terminals demand robust, smart and dependable mooring systems. Projects like these show the full range of what we design and build. From standalone mooring safety components to fully integrated systems, always customized to the specific terminal and its operational reality.
And while the destinations differ, the starting point remains the same: Our factory, where engineering, production and testing come together before systems are shipped worldwide.
