  • Dredging projects Update

    22 June 2026

At Straatman Dredging & Construction, our team has been busy with several dredging projects this month. From bow couplings to ball joints, different types of equipment have moved through our factory in Zwijndrecht. Some projects are now finished and on their way to the client. Others are still in progress. Each project shows the practical work we do every day: Repairing, improving, building and testing dredging equipment for demanding marine operations.

    Dredging projects details

One of the projects was the refurbishment of an existing rainbow nozzle for a bow discharge coupling. We carried out this work for a well-known dredging client. Our team also added an extra piece in the bend. This makes the nozzle higher and helps improve the discharge process.

For Boskalis, we are delivering a complete female part with an outer ball joint and bend. This unit is for the vessel Causeway. It has a diameter of 750 millimetres, a 15-degree angle and a working pressure of 15 bar.

We also completed a full bow coupling installation for a Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger. Last Friday, this installation left our factory and was transported to the client. It is always a good moment when finished equipment leaves the workshop and starts its journey to the vessel.

For DEME, our team worked on a 1000 millimetre ball joint. This is another example of the large dredging components we build and service in-house.

These projects show the wide range of dredging equipment we support at Straatman. Sometimes we repair existing parts. Sometimes we make smart modifications. And sometimes we build completely new installations.

Every project depends on skilled people. From welding and coating to assembly and final inspection, each step matters. It is great to see steel parts turn into finished equipment, ready for tough work at sea.
