Custom made capstans for HES Hartel Tank Terminal

Last year, we delivered fifteen custom made vertical capstans, executed completely weather proof and suitable for ATEX Zone 1 to our customer Hes International B.V. for their brand new HES Hartel Tank Terminal, which is developed at the Maasvlakte in the Port of Rotterdam. This terminal will offer storage capacity for petroleum products and biofuels.

The delivered Straatman capstans have been designed with the end-user in mind. Powered by an especially efficient IE1 class 7,5kW ATEX motor, they ensure a 25m/min fast and 15kN nominal pull strong hauling in of the messenger line. The capstans have been designed for ease of operation with two rotational directions and an instant brake, keeping the emergency stop reachable at all times ensures additional safety. The specially designed stainless steel 316 covers protect the components on the electrical cabinets against damage from the messenger line and double up as a protection against bird droppings on the buttons and switches. Last but not least, the C5 executed high quality coating ensures protection against the elements and makes for a sustainable product for years to come, which fits perfectly in HES Hartel Tank Terminals mission of sustainability.

The capstans have been installed at the terminal and last week we were invited to take pictures of the units in their new habitat.
