  • Quick Release Ball Joint Ø800 Delivered

    5 juni 2024

Straatman recently completed a Quick Release Ball Joint Ø800 after a successful final acceptance test with the client. The unit is now ready for deployment on an advanced diamond recovery vessel. This type of vessel operates under demanding conditions. Therefore, reliability and durability are critical.

Designed for safe and flexible connections

The Quick Release Ball Joint creates a safe and efficient connection between a dredging vessel and a floating pipeline. This connection must remain stable during operation while allowing flexibility. Hydraulic cylinders control the system and enable a smooth and controlled release of the pipeline when required. The ball joint operates under 10 bar pressure and allows:

    • 15° tilting movement
    • 360° rotation

As a result, the system adapts easily to vessel movement and changing conditions at sea.

    Proven solution for dredging operations

This type of ball joint is commonly used on cutter suction dredgers. It is often combined with Straatman’s ball-turning gland for optimal performance. The design ensures both operational flexibility and long-term reliability.

    Built in-house in the Netherlands

Straatman designs, develops, and manufactures these systems in-house in Zwijndrecht, the Netherlands. This approach ensures full control over quality and performance. Each component undergoes strict testing before delivery.

    Built to last

We cannot predict the future, but we can design for it. By using robust materials and proven engineering, we build systems that perform reliably for years. This project once again shows Straatman’s ability to deliver high-quality dredging equipment for specialised applications.
