Commissioning at Kenar Oil Terminal

Straatman recently completed the Site Acceptance Test (SAT) and commissioning of a new mooring system at Offshore Oil Pier No. 3. The pier is located in Kenar, Turkmenbashi, Turkmenistan. This installation is part of the Kenar Oil Terminal, a key export hub for Turkmenistan’s oil industry. The terminal includes two berths and a 7-kilometre access canal, allowing multiple vessels to operate simultaneously.
Complete mooring solution delivered
Straatman designed and delivered a custom mooring system tailored to the project requirements. The system supports safe and efficient vessel handling at the offshore pier. The scope of supply included:
- 12 custom-designed 40-ton Quick Release Mooring Hooks
- Integrated capstans for mooring line handling
- Remote control system for safe and easy operation
- Mooring Load Monitoring System for real-time load insight
Each component was engineered to perform reliably in demanding offshore conditions.
On-site testing and commissioning
Our engineers travelled to Turkmenistan to execute the Site Acceptance Test and full commissioning. During this phase, all systems were tested under operational conditions. The team verified system performance, safety functions, and communication between all components. After successful testing, the system was approved for operational use.
Improving safety and operational control
The installed mooring system provides operators with greater control over mooring operations. The load monitoring system offers continuous insight into line tensions. The remote control system allows operators to release hooks from a safe location when required. This reduces risks during critical operations.
