Commissioning of LNG Mooring System in Santos, Brazil

Straatman successfully completed the commissioning and training for a full mooring system at the LNG Terminal de Regaseificação de São Paulo (TRSP). The terminal is located in Santos, São Paulo, one of Brazil’s most important port regions. The terminal is designed to accommodate the Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) Höegh Giant. Reliable mooring infrastructure is essential to ensure safe and continuous LNG operations.
Complete mooring system for FSRU operations
Straatman was responsible for the design, engineering, and manufacturing of the complete mooring system for this project. The system supports safe and efficient mooring of the FSRU at the terminal. The scope of supply included:
- Double and quadruple Quick Release Mooring Hooks
- Mooring Load Monitoring Systems
- Remote release systems
- Central Monitoring System
- Carry-on-Board system
- Ship-to-Shore Link (SSL) system
These systems work together to provide operators with full control and real-time insight into mooring operations.
On-site commissioning and training
Straatman engineers travelled to Brazil to carry out the on-site commissioning of the complete system. During this phase, all systems were tested and validated under operational conditions. In addition, the team provided training to local operators. This ensures that the system is used safely and efficiently during daily operations.
