Loadcell Calibration LNG berth

Straatman recently completed a service and calibration project for Petronas at an LNG berth in Malaysia. The berth is equipped with Strainstall Quick Release Mooring Hooks and integrated load monitoring systems. The project focused on restoring the full accuracy and reliability of the Mooring Load Monitoring Systems.

Inspection and system verification

In line with our takeover agreement with Strainstall, our engineers carried out a full inspection and system verification on site. They assessed the condition and performance of all installed components. After verification, the team identified several faulty parts. We replaced load cells and amplifiers where needed. As a result, the entire berth is now fully calibrated and operational again.

Meeting industry standards

Regular inspection and maintenance are essential for LNG terminals. Therefore, operators follow strict guidelines such as the OCIMF/SIGTTO Jetty Maintenance and Inspection Guide. These guidelines require annual inspection and calibration of mooring systems. With this project, Petronas meets these requirements and ensures safe operations.

Flexible installation and retrofitting

One of the key advantages of Straatman systems is flexibility. We can integrate load monitoring systems into new builds, but also retrofit them on existing installations. Our engineers designed a lightweight and transportable system. This allows installation and replacement without heavy lifting equipment. As a result, we avoid the need for cranes and reduce dependency on weather conditions.
