350T Quick Release Hook Ready for Offshore Deployment
1 december 2025
Straatman recently completed and tested a 350-ton Quick Release Mooring Hook at our factory. The unit features a distinctive red coating and is now ready for shipment to an offshore client in Nigeria. Once delivered, the hook will be installed on a Floating Storage and Offloading unit (FSO). It will support tandem offloading operations, where crude oil transfers from the FSO to a shuttle tanker. This process requires maximum reliability and operational safety.
Designed for offshore performance
We designed the hook for demanding offshore conditions. In these environments, safety and control are critical. Therefore, the system includes two key safety features.
First, the Mooring Load Monitoring System continuously measures line tension, giving operators real-time insight into mooring loads. As a result, they can act quickly when conditions change. Second, the Remote Release System allows operators to release the hook from a safe distance, reducing risks and enabling a fast response in emergencies.
Visibility and durability
The red protective coating serves two purposes. It protects the unit against corrosion and improves visibility. Better visibility makes inspection and handling safer and more efficient.
Ready for shipment and installation
We have fully assembled and tested the complete system and approved it for shipment. Once it arrives in Nigeria, our team will install and commission the hook on-site.
It will then support daily offshore operations.
Reliable solutions for offshore mooring
At Straatman, we develop robust and innovative mooring systems for challenging environments. This project demonstrates our ability to deliver safe, reliable, and high-performance solutions for offshore applications, including FSOs, terminals, and buoy systems.
