Old style traffic light BAS system

Recently we dispatched a Berthing Aid System which is now on the way to our US Refinery Customer in Baytown Texas. The supplied equipment, once installed, measures speed and distance of an approaching vessel and compares the obtained data with pre-programmed allowable values.

Eye-safe laser sensor signals are processed and monitored by sophisticated PLC based hardware in combination with custom build SCADA application software. A dual “traffic light” display system containing red, orange and green colored signal lamps represents the approach speed status of both bow and stern of the vessel.

The system ensures safe mooring and protects the installed fenders from damage due to high approach speeds.
